Paragraph.

Yes, I did cook and clean on Mothers Day. I also went food shopping. Why? Because I AM A MOTHER. And that's what moms do.

I don't know about you, but I'm sick and tired of these Hallmark made holidays that guilt our husbands into feeling like they have to spend at least a hundred dollars on us to show us how much they care. With so many women who can't have kids, I am lucky that I have a family and spouse to work my tail bone off for.

You know what makes this attitude even easier? My Thursday night hotel stay stay - sans kids and husband. (Come on, do you really think I'm that selfless?)

How was your Mother's Day?

I knew there was a catch somewhere. :)

Veddy, veddy nice mother's day. My prize is coming. Time away.

But you know what? It was pretty sweet being all together, too. Not every second, but most of the time.

I do agree, though, about the consumerism associated with holidays. I don't want gifts. I just want a little respect! ; )

Oh and I love that picture in the hammock. What a relaxed and happy bunch!

I got a $9 mug from Treebones Resort in Big Sur that my man ordered for me because I had one that broke a week after I brought it home from our trip there on our 10th anniversary. He rememebered and went online and ordered it and everything. That meant more than crowded brunch or roses any day. And, being sung the Happy Mother's Day song by my kids is pure gold.

And, I agree, it makes me sad that most women only feel like they deserve a break once a year just because it's a holiday. We should insist on that at least twice a year...ha ha ha.

DH came home from a work trip. I did lots of chores. DD was overexcited to see her dad. I cooked and cleaned. Same old, same old.

I told my husband I don't want anymore presents this year, because we need to save for a trip to Omaha, but he had apparently already bought the popcorn popper before I said anything. So we spent the afternoon watching movies and eating popcorn. It was a good way to spend the day. My husband also cooked both breakfast and dinner, but I guess he does that a lot on Sundays anyway. It was delicious.

Mostly I was just happy to have such a great family.

I love it! On Mother's Day, they expected you to be a mother??? Isn't that just like kids! You are so right about the Hallmark thing... "entitlement thinking" for moms means big bucks for retailers. Glad you guys don't fall for it (though diamonds on Mother's Day WOULD be nice).

My birthday was five days before Mother's Day, like every year, so my fam is done with gifts by the time it rolls around. But we DID stay home from church and the hubby played preacher so I didn't have to wrestle the fussy baby all through the service. And the hubby DID change every poopy diaper the whole day. And they DID take me out to our favorite Mexican restuarant that boasts 99 cent kids meals on Sundays (and they DID let me order off the grown-up menu LOL). And they all treated me like a queen, so I sure can't complain. Now only 364 days of drudgery until the next mother's Day!!

It was so nice. I spent the day with my Mama, two hours away.

It was great until Pook woke up from her nap and promptly puked all over the car. And then proceeded to try and lick it up.

Ran a 5k in the morning then went and ate sushi. Yummy!

We all then went home and took a nap.

It was heaven.
